The manufacturing of Yuhuan eyewear accessories began in the late 1970s. After more than 50 years of development and growth, it has now become a nationally important production base for eyewear accessories. An advanced manufacturing industrial cluster and a complete supporting industrial system have been formed, providing first-mover advantages in technological innovation and sustainable enterprise development. Currently, the entire industry comprises over 300 production and trading enterprises, including 17 above-scale enterprises, 4 enterprises with annual revenue exceeding 1 billion yuan, and 5 enterprises with annual revenue exceeding 50 million yuan. Eyewear accessory products cover all areas of the eyewear industry, holding a market share of 65%. The annual output value exceeds 2 billion yuan.
The Yuhuan City Eyewear Industry Association was established in 2004.
The industry standard for "Eyewear Accessories," drafted under the leadership of the association, was promulgated and implemented in 2014.
The national standard for "Eyewear Frames – Threads" was promulgated and implemented in 2020.
In September 2005, it was awarded the honorary title of "China Eyewear Accessories Production Base" by the China Light Industry Council.
In 2020, it was re-awarded the honorary title of "China Eyewear Accessories Production Base" after passing a re-evaluation.
In 2020, it was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award to the Industry" by the China Eyewear Association.
In 2017 and 2021, it was awarded the honorary titles of "Innovation and Upgrading Demonstration Zone for Characteristic Regions and Industrial Clusters in China's Light Industry" and "Advanced Unit for Management and Services in Characteristic Regions and Industrial Clusters of China's Light Industry" by the China Light Industry Council.
In December 2025, it was rated as a 5A-level social organization.
